Liverpool gave a collective squeal of delight and a huge sigh of relief earlier this week with the announcement that Royal De Luxe would be returning to the city in July for a 5 day commemoration of the outbreak of World War I . A sigh of relief that the rumours that had been floating around for weeks were true, and a scream of delight that the giants were heading back.
After the success of 2012 Sea Odyssey which saw the little girl, her uncle and a giant mischievous dog roaming the city with upwards of 800,000 people following their every step*, three days which have rightly been called one of the most memorable three days in this city’s remarkable history, it wouldn’t have felt right to see them appearing anywhere else this summer.
Liverpool is fast becoming home to some brilliant events – either regulars or one offs – that genuinely capture people’s imagination.
